In a change from prior years, the Club Board of Directors this year decided to donate $1,000 to The Methodist Home for all the good work it does and to aid it in its ministry.
Normally, a citizen volunteer is recognized and a donation made to the charity for which they volunteer. Since so many people contribute time and effort to The Methodist Home, we decided to recognize them all with a direct contribution.
The mission of the Methodist Home for Children and Youth is to be a model organization that restores childhoods, strengthens families and cultivates a people-building organization. Over the past 145 years it has grown from a rural, farm-based orphanage in Macon to an organization with multiple children's homes located across South Georgia. Additionally, they offer community based family counseling services and operate a small daycare center in Macon. The Home is truly a community engaged organization serving some of the most vulnerable babies, children, youth and adults and families in our state.
